I've done this on a 380xd battery.
It charges up fine on the laptop and runs for over two hours.
Note that IBM does list a NiMH for this model!!!
02K6521 may be the part number.
So if they show a part number, I think that we can assume that
the DC/DC board can handle NiMN, but remember, your mileage
may vary.
I left the little "thermister?" connected.
