The primary reason you can't easily control your TV, VCR, etc. with the Thinkpad
is because the IR output is about 1/10 of what the average TV remote puts out.
My 760XL works quite well with my Palm, HP 6MP printer, etc., provided they're
within inches, not feet, of each other.
