[Thinkpad] 380xd Thinkpads that boot up in Safe Mode

Hi,

I have a few 380xd Thinkpads that try to boot up normal, Fail and
boot into Safe Mode. I can restart them and they boot up normal
just fine. Most of the time when they try to go into Safe Mode on the
initial startup I can select Normal and they will boot up just fine.
These have the origional '95 pre-load on them. With added
programs of course. Does anyone know what causes these laptops
to go into Safe Mode?
