I would like to get another 1 to 2 years more life from my ThinkPad 770x.
I really like the keyboard and 14.1" lcd. I use this machine as a desktop
replacement with Windows 98 SE, Office 2000, and Internet Explorer 5.5.
I would like advice on the benefits of following upgrades:
1. Memory:
- Current: 128 MB (2 x 64 MB SO DIMMS)
- Planned: 256 MB (2 x 128 MB SO DIMMS)
2. Hard Drive:
- Current: 6.4 GB Travelstar (original drive)
- Planned: 20 GB Travelstar (faster)
3. Modem:
- Current: Original MWave Modem (flashed to V.90)
- Planned: V.92 Modem (non-mWave; non-WinModem)
4. Processor
- Current: Pentium II 300 Mhz
- Planned: Pentium II 400 Mhz
Are there any other upgrades that make sense?
In the "new generation" ThinkPads, is there anything equivalent
to the TP 770X/Z in quality?
Thanks,
Steve
