I've been trying to install the Thinkpad Configuration Utility v1.30 on my
Thinkpad A21e running Windows 2000 SP3 without success so far. The machine
has plenty of free disk space and memory. I first removed the old
configuration utility (v1.17, I think) as described in the instructions,
rebooted, and made sure that all of the remains were gone. The v1.30 file I
downloaded from IBM's web site is named uttpcw32.exe.
When I try to install the new version of the utility I get an almost
immediate error message after working through the setup screens and starting
the actual installation: "Error occurred while copying files." I've tried
this while logged in as both Administrator and as a user with Admin
privileges with the same error results. There aren't any error messages in
the event log, and I can reinstall the old version just fine.
Any thoughts? Is there a way to find out more precisely what the error is,
or how I can get past it?
Thanks,
-Scott-
