        I swapped the DVD drive in my 600E for a DVD/CDRW drive. The
faceplate was held on with plastic tabs that snapped into sockets.
With the drive ejected, I could see them - getting to them was another
matter! I used my smallest screw drivers, was very gentle, and still
ended up breaking a tab, though the job is still presentable.
        Driver-wise, it was recognized by W2K on re-boot.
