My A20M bought at the end of '99 has NO case cracks.
I use it constantly, at least 8 hours a day.
But, I've never dropped it, and take very good care of it.
It has only once been in the belly of a plane.

I find the "developed the crack all by itself" claim interesting.

You might want to look at

and see if it's worth it to get the warranty extended.

I have always wondered about the liability issues of expensive equipent
loaned to employees.
Why did you loan this machine to an employee with a bad records with laptops
?
