Everyone,

Back in May, I acquired a ThinkPad 500 (model 2603 w/170 mb HD and 12 mb RAM)) [and signed on to the mailing list]. After installing Windows 3.11 and various Win 3.X programs, its has really proven to be a handy system [if only it was a 510CS! (the color model)]. I say this as a user of a Toshiba Libretto 110CT - nice system, but with an annoying built-in pointing device and a smallish keyboard - and so I find myself using the 500 a whole lot more due to it's TrackPoint II and larger keyboard. On the other hand, having Windows 95 running on the 500 would be quite nice, certainly a more realistic possibility with a larger hard drive.

Along these lines, a search of the mailing list archives turned up several threads about putting 540 mb hard drives in the 500, as well as installing Win 95. What the messages do not mention is what MODEL(s) of hard drives will work in the 500. Does anyone know what these might be? Are there any special details to note while doing the install? ((I have the IBM HMM that includes instructions for opening up the 500)) Any info about this upgrade would be appreciated!

Martin :)

PS: Since the size of the 500 is quite nice [about 10 x 7 inches (small but not too small)], what other TP models have this basic foot print (I know the 510CS does)??
