I haven't seen the T40, but it would be very surprising if it were any
different from any of the other ThinkPads with mini-PCI slots. Simply look
on the bottom of the machine for a rectangular door that is fastened with a
single Philips screw. There may be two of them, one for the memory and the
other for the mini-PCI slot.

There's no disassembly required beyond that one screw.

When you install the card, you should find two antenna cables with tiny
round connectors at the end that plug into the mini-PCI card.
