I'm using LINUX.

I know for sure that the BIOS is supporting the drive because it shows it in
the "System Information" menu with the correct size, etc..

It does very much, because AFAIK if the drive isn't recorgnized by the BIOS
it's not possible to boot from it. In a desktop PC this isn't a problem
because one might be able to boot from another drive but on my laptop I
don't have that option. Of course I might be able to start LINUX from a
bootable CD but that's not really a nice solution.
