First, read my earlier post
Second, 98 is a plug and pray system - it will reset your COM port in the
BIOS every time it runs......
Go into the hardware device manager of EACH OS on the machine and set the
serial port to COM1. Do not use automatic settings. Eventually, you will get
the port hard wired as COM1
Since you use different OS on this machine, this could be a real problem.
DOS does not see COM 1 because something has reset it to some other address!
Win 98 will see the COM port even if it is turned off in BIOS, but DOS
won't.
So you need to FIX the address and resources as COM1 in each and every OS
that you use.
