Recently I asked for help on my 560X keyboard (right mouse button often
doesn't work). As far as I can tell, the switch can't be replaced
individually, I have to replace the whole keyboard. I also have an older
560 which we don't use much, I'm thinking of just swapping the two
keyboards. Some questions before I do the work:
(1) Do I have other repair options? The switch seems to be only slightly
bad, for example if I open the case, remove the keyboard bezel, and click
with my thumb under the switch (or even while holding the keyboard in the
air) it works fine.
(2) What is the difference between the keyboards for the 560/560E/560X?
They are evidently interchangeable (though not the 560Z), but they have
different part numbers.
(I could just buy a new or lightly-used replacement keyboard, but the places
that have good deals on them - including eBay sellers - either won't ship to
Hawaii at all, or want to charge UPS 2nd day air rates to deliver to me. If
anybody there has a spare 560/E/X keyboard, and is willing to ship priority
mail, please let me know!)
