Bryan,

Keep in mind that older ThinkPad's have slower IDE controllers.
An ATA-33 controller can handle only 33MB/s at BEST while the
new drive can deliver 60MB/s at best.

Also, memory below 133MHz could slow down data transfer too,
if the drive is heavily using its cache memory.

There are lots of steps in the path of data transfer.

I'd think these drives would show their stuff best only on
the very newest machines. Now, this is all educated guessing,
mind you. I have no experience with the drive and would like
to hear what Bill has heard from customers!
