I don't know why not. I did the same, but in a saddle bag (no hope
with spelling or pronouncing French). The machine was happy. Also, I
carried one for years back and forth across the west side of Chicago
on my way to and from work. The streets are bad and were awful, worse
than anything you'd expect to find much of on a rural tour.
