I suspect that the temperature is a difference between the 9x line and
NT line - IIRC, the 9x line *doesn't* use the CPU idle instructions
(without 3rd party software) - the NT line does. As do the various
free 'nixes.
My TP600X is a 9EG - so speedstep on yours might also make a
difference.
Talking of NT/2K on 600s - has anyone had problems with a 3COM
3XFE575BT NIC under NT? My problem is that if I use CardWizard to load
the driver under NT4, it crashes (with a BSOD) with 576Mb memory (but
is fine with less installed). As far as I can see, it is a bug in
CardWizard, because the stand-alone 3COM drivers do work fine (but
don't allow one to remove the card, or hibernate).
