OK, that's it. Thanks to all (and esp. to Bruce for the file).

However, something a bit odd. Formerly when I inserted a PC Card,
Win98 would flash a message on the screen and then start to locate
software. Now it no longer does so, only if the card is in the
slot at boot time. If I insert the card while the machine is booted,
nothing happens.

Could this be related to the Quick Boot option in the BIOS? I recently
changed something (after reading a warning in the User Manual about running
non-Win systems [which I do])?

More illumination invited.
