Hi Tom,
Right now, we're working on 128 mb. 256mb, I wish, but not entirely
discouraged. The problem foremost is finding room to put another
double sided module in. I'm pretty sure we are going to overcome
the bios limitations, after all, we did with the 64mb module. Also, another
thing we're looking at is increasing the memory through use of pcmcia.
And more so while it being docked to a IBM Dock II. At this stage it's
all still on the table. Once the bugs are worked out, rest assured it will be
offered at http://exocompusa.com.
Also, fyi, the highest capacity hard drive (tested) has been a 48gb IBM
Travel Star, as a matter of fact, that's what our 701 is running now. The 701
we dub t4 is actually brand spanking new, has the 133 MHz upgrade, currently
has 64mb of ram, and outfitted with a 48gb drive. We just configured it as well
to attach it to a IBM Dock II through use of a docking kit. Totally awesome !
Another idea on the table with the IBM Dock II is fibre channel storage.
I think I'll probably stop trying to trick out the 701 when I finally get it to
make coffee ! After that, my job is done !
Re the highest capacity hard drive, well, I think the sky is the limit !
I prefer IBM's over anything because it's much easier doing the DDO
through software.
As far as our favorite hard drive, it's got to be the IBM Travel Star 32gb.
That thing is 5400 rpms and fast as a bullet and my personal favorite.
If you get a chance to visit Exocomp USA's web site again, do me a favor
and take the opportunity to sign our guest book.
