[Thinkpad] i1400 doesn't power up

A friend has a Thinkpad i1400 TYPE 2621-428 which
doesn't boot anymore. When i plug in charger, "battery
status", "standby" LED and "Power On" LED lights up,
but that's all. No Hdd activity, nothing.
The CD display lights up.
It seems it charges battery, the indicator lights up
orange and changes green after a while. Battery
voltage seems OK.
Any ideas where to start? I checked backup battery
too, it's OK.
