Ok, no wars!!!!!!
But Justin, come on
If the 701 was all that great, they would still make it and sell a ton!
Your posts have become blatantly commercial (I post a commercial once in a while, but not constantly), and we get the point.
When I want to get the 701 that I don't own fixed, I'll call. Until then, yes, I will delete you.

  That wasn't nice ! : .. ( ............................ :)-
Take a pill and calm down ! I suspect if there is anything
within the archives that you or anyone doesn't like, a simple
deletion of the e mail will suffice (works for me) ~ :o

  "Feeding the Fire" since you made some interesting points;

The 701 is "NOT" dead, gone and buried, but very much alive !!!
I know, I have an arsenal of customers that prefer it over anything else
and they are professionals which include well known writers, lawyers,
and doctors. As a matter of fact, the 701 is quite popular in the Far East,
primarily in Japan. You would be surprised how many orders come through
my shop ! These professionals with the money they make can easily go out
and lay 3k on the latest, (some do and some don't and those that do only have
  them just to have them.

In addition ~ the only port cover that you maybe thinking about
is the floppy drive ~ and that one was actually a bear to take out, so it cannot
easily fall off as you put it. The other port cover (pcmcia) also didn't come
off quite easily, but I will say it was a very delicate port cover to begin with.
Very easy to break. As a matter of fact, most 701 users just took them off
and tossed them aside and never used them again. All other ports are by
means of the replicator that attach to the rear of the laptop and they "ARE"
easy to access. Re sharp edges ~ I don't think so ~ not capable of anything,
I disagree ~ The new and improved Amd5x86 with 64Mb of Ram can certainly
run Windows 95/98 effortlessly. Not only that, but I created my web site with a 701

  http://exocompusa.com

What else, oh ~ it runs Office quite well. Surf's the internet reasonably
well on broad band. Of course comparing it to a Pentium III is certainly
futile. Having to wait for a page to come up the extra 8 seconds I sure can
live with. However if you run a connection with 56k, despite what machine
  you're using you're still limited to 56k.

Another interesting fact (proven) I can boot a 701 Running 98Lite to it's
desktop within 11 seconds ~ talk about speed.

In closing you're entitled to your opinion ~ granted, and I too can respect
  anyone's sentiments towards the 701 ~ the 701 is certainly not everyone's
cup of noodle, but don't put them down because you happen to have
a bad experience with one or may have hurt yourself with it's fine sharp
edges. Perhaps the one you had "Had Satan Inside" :)-

My job would be complete use to be when I get the 701 to make coffee,
however, I've revised that now to making coffee and opening cans with it's
  sharp edges.

On a last note, a laptop that is 20 years old becomes a collector's item,
a new one out the door loses 60% of it's retail value, and I suspect that
anything over 100 years old becomes "ANCIENT"

Despite it all, the 701's still Rules ~ and that of course is my opinion!

  ButterFly Power !

    ENOUGH ALREADY
The X series has a 12 inch LCD, it is QUITE SMALL, and while I respect the
fact that you are a fan of the 701 series, it is DEAD, GONE, BURIED.
ANCIENT, not capable of anything anymore.
    AND
The one that I had was horribly made, sharp edges, hard to access the ports,
silly covers that were hard to use and fell off.
    Enough of this!
