Bruce.............sometimes you remind me of myself ;-)

"What's all the fuzz good for anyway ?"

Do you know how much time I've spend, just to figure out the "right way" to partition the HD ?
BootDisk
VideoCaptureDisk
PageFileDisk
SystemDisk
ProgramDisk
DataDisk
and.....finally BackupDisk.

Thoughts of....
"Well....would it be fastest for my PageFileDisk if it's formatted with 64K clustersize or is a 512Byte clustersize okay ?"
"Which disk should have highest priority ? VideoCaptureDisk or PageFileDisk ?"
(We're talking read/write speed and HD-zones)

All the tweaks in the registry ?
Large system cache.
IOpagelock
Force system-dll's to memory.
Enable diskcache.

What's it good for anyway ?
No........I want the fastest configuration possible, even though I look like a moron.
Since the days of IBM PC and PC/XT...any waiting time makes me mad.

Bruce ?
Yes...the DVD runs smooth. I'm using the build-in DVD-player in W2K. It takes advantage of the DEVA-card.
For some reason, the upgrade of DVDExpress from the IBM-site won't play through the DEVA anymore.

A faster CPU, FSB, memory and HD would, though, have some advantages over the default configuration.

Here, my 770Z touches the roof when capturing video at 320x240.
With this resolution I can't capture audio with higher quality than FM-radio.
At 240x180 the audio can be captured with CD-quality.

Also. When capturing, it can't play CD-music smoothly.
The CPU reaches 100%.

Therefore.....any attemp resulting in gaining in performance, 5% here, 3% there, another 2% over here and wow 10% here...will satisfy my needs.
And that's a lot to me ;-)

No....I will not stop until the maximum performance limit is reached.

Still hunting...................................

Brian
