Yes and no. Yes, that's _one_ configuration that worked on the 770Z, but you
can also get 512MB by installing two PC100 256MB sticks, in which case the
"onboard" memory is mapped out.

This is something we've discussed for years on the Thinkppads.com forums,
but I've never been able to wrap my head around it. Nor have I seen any
indication of a "special" memory slot on the 770Z when I was initially
upgrading mine years ago with 128MB sticks and then 256MB sticks. If the
memory worked in one of my 600Xs or early T machines, it worked in my 770Z.

$420 for two pieces of 256MB!!!! Geeze, I could almost hand deliver two for
that price!

Must be something we could do about that, let me know if you want me to get
some and send them to you.

Thank you. The wedding isn't until 1NOV, but it seems to be consuming all of
our time already. (It's certainly consuming all of our money!)

Ah well, one daughter down soon and one to go. Anyone want to adopt me to
keep me from the poorhouse?

Regards,

James
