Hi Everyone !
"Just~in" case anyone out there is even interested in the old (ancient)
but still stylish 701 ~ this is basically an fyi. We just worked out all
the bugs on the Thermo unit that measures the case & cpu temperature and
it's now available.
I've also updated the site with a sneak preview of the solar charger
external battery which is almost finished. As soon as I can find the
right voltage regulator & Li-ION cell balance, it's still on the table.
I'm also going to be including with all laptop sales a neat little idea
I got off this list regarding "Solid State" hard drives (pcmcia type).
Basically, it will just be offered as a recovery tool in case the hard
drive crashes or the o/s becomes unstable to the point of crashing.
Simply snap it in, boot the 701 from floppy and run the recover utility
I programmed and the hard drive is back to the same state when the buyer
received it. Since the 701 doesn't have pcmcia boot capabilities, to
use it, you'll need a boot able floppy disc that will also be included.
In case anyone is wondering, my dear brother manage to get his 701 Flyer
off the ground, well at least 4 feet until it crashed and burned.
Wasted a good 701 case, rc prop, and basically the entire plane since he
dismantled it to see if it would even work.
The rc 701 4x4 worked just great, but kept tipping over til the lcd
finally broke into a thousand pieces.
The futile attempt to get a 701 to operate under water......well, that
basically was just a waste of time. We tried though, but it was next to
impossible to seal the keyboard. Plastic wrapped worked, but was a bear
to use, not to mention there was way too many nooks and crannies we
missed when we sealed the unit with silicon.
Last but not least, I've been working on "designer" 701 units.
Basically, you can get your 701 in any color. (Pink for the ladies ~
hehehe). I've also picked up a few good templates I'm working on now.
One is the Bicentennial 701 which has a background of the United States
Flag, and imbedded as backdrops, a picture of George Washington, Abraham
Lincoln, and a "United States" .03 cent postage stamp of "Iwo Jima".
The other two are designs of "Safari" which is very similar to what a
Zebra looks like, and lastly Camouflage.
There were a few other templates ideas I had, but finding those
templates to work with has been somewhat hard.
Thought I would add a little 701 spice to the archives this week since
it has been a little drab.
God Bless America !!! Peace, Love, & ButterFly Power
Justin
