Any brand card should work as long as you can read it in the thinkpad.
I'm not sure which thinkpads will let you boot from the card, go into
setup (hold F1 down during startup?) and see if you can set the card as
a boot (start up) device.
Format the card with the /s switch (format d:/s) so the system files are
copied. Then install your system on the card.
Put the card in and restart, the card should now be C: and the internal
drive D:
This will cause a problem if you try to install Windows on the card
since when you install the card is D: and when you start from the card
it is C: . Perhaps you could get around this by installing to the
internal drive (C:) and then copying everything over to the card?
I know DOS 6.22 will boot from the card on my 560....

The solid state drive should be a direct replacement for any 2.5" IDE
drive. The computer won't know the difference.
My 560 is certainly much quieter (actually totally silent since it has
no fan). I recently ran it on the original battery for about an hour and
still had 82% left.
I'll try and remember to unplug and see how long it lasts.
Is there a standard test I could run so my numbers would be more meaningful?
