I'm a happy and satisfied user of a really confortable and robust iSeries 1400.

Originally this model had 32Mb of ram and 4gb hd. In the last few years I
slowly upgraded it with more ram and a bigger faster 20gb harddrive.

Now it has a 384Mb ram. Both modules (one 128 and one 256) are pc133.
Everything works well and perfectly although the manufactured said that the
largest sodimm for this model are 128mb modules (66mhz raccomended).

The cpu is still the original 300MHz mobile Pentium MMX and I'd like to
push it a little bit faster, although I'm really happy of the performance
of WinXP on this machine.
Do I need to update or modify the bios some how to replace the current cpu
with a faster PII mobile 400 or Celeron mobile 466MHz (they share the same
MMC-1 cpu module of the mobile pentium MMX)?

Has anybody any experience or hint about this?

alessandro.
