Hello,
I had occasion to use an SMC Networks' EZ Connect 2.5GHZ 11 Mbps Wireless
Cardbus Adapter (Model No: SMC2635W) and it worked flawlessly with my IBM
ThinkPad T23 (2648-LU7) running Microsoft Windows XP Professional Edition
SP-1.
It was purchased from Micro Center's store in Sunnyvale, CA. They also
sell it on their web site at
<http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=159213>
for $35.00 with a rebate form for $15.00 off bringing the cost down to $20.00.
<http://www.microcenter.com/rebate_show.phtml?id=5655>
When I purchased at the store they had a $10.00 "instant savings" which brought
the cost down to $10.00.
As a matter of fact when testing with Proxim ORiNOCO AP-1000 and RG-1000
access points it gets a stronger signal than my Proxim ORiNOCO ComboCard
11a/b/g. Its "hump" antenna is smaller than the older Proxim ORiNOCO Gold
PC Card's and it does not have an external antenna connector. It does fit
in one of the old ORiNOCO PC Card transport shells, though. For $10.00 it
is not a bad "backup" WiFi card.
No connection with Micro Center or SMC other than being a happy customer. :-)
Regards,
Aryeh Goretsky
