i have not verified your commments IRT some X31 coming with PC2100 memory..
all centrino/banias thinkpads SHOULD use and come with PC2700 memory..
you CAN use PC2100 memory but then, per ibm, all the memory, whether PC2700
or PC2100 will operate at the slower speed..
you can use PC2700 memory in a PC2100 thinkpad (X30?) but it will obviously
not give you faster operation..
it will allow you to buy new memory for your X30 that, when you upgrade to
an X31, you can install in the X31..
was all that clear..? :-)
