I've been away and have only just had a chance to
catch up on the past week or so of messages.
My! You've all been busy.
In one post there was a concern that the new X40 would
have only a 1.8" HDD rather than a 2.5" one.
I've been getting along with a 570 machine waiting for
what might replace the X31 and so I'm excited about
the X40 --- but I don't have a clue what the
difference (aside from .7") is between the two HDD.
Why should I, or anyone care?
One feature I really like on my 570 is being able to
swap the hard drive. I keep a spare and when someone
wants to borrow my computer to check their e-mail, or
play games at the lake, or whatever, I swap. Same
when I send it in for repairs. I don't worry about
all my files getting dumped ---- and as I write for
a living the thought of losing a manuscript (I know,
I know, I should back up more) is enough to make my
teeth ache. I think you can swap drives on the X31s
as well. Right? Does anyone know if I'd be able to
do that with the X40? If not, perhaps I'll look for
an X31 while they're still around.
Thanks for your help and input.
Best wishes to all for 2004.
Sheldon
