I think historically the most problematic of the Thinkpads was the 701
series.

The DC-DC boards on the 560s are rubbish; a symptom is that the charger
ceases to charge the batteries.
As for system board flex failure, the symptoms are the same as on any system
board failure, and so can take many forms.
