well, they would FIT, and WORK, but not reliably..
i have a customer who cut the teeth off and had a couple of the 60gig 5400
12.5mm drives running in her T30..
never knew exactly why they put the teeth there..
never actually did this myself..
perhaps the fit was *just* off enough for unreliable operation or too much
heat buildup or some such..

now, with the 9mm 60gig and 80gig fast drives, its all pretty moot..
