Hello,
I own a 365X and 365XD. I had to find alternate solutions.
One is to use a Type 1 compactflash card with PC Card adapter
for temporary storage. I have used SanDisk 64 and 256 MB
cards and even booted up slackware linux from the 256 MB card.
A second alternative is to get a Adaptec 1460 card and use
external SCSI devices. I use a 9.1 GB SCSI HD and CD-ROM.
SCSI is not plug and play and SCSI devices can be expensive.
I have used SCSI for a long time so I already had devices.
A third alternative is to get an ethernet card and connect
to other devices via the network. You could set up a computer
as a "file server" and have the laptop connect to shares on
the machine. I have directly hooked two of the laptops
via a crossover ethernet cable to transfer files between them.
I have used all three depending on what I wanted to do.
My 365 units run a monitoring program under dos but I also
can boot up in Windows 95. I am currently using a 166MMX
380E for software development and do not find it too slow.

Subject: [Thinkpad] Thinkpad 365X pcmcia question
Has anyone figured out a way to put a USB port on a Thinkpad 365X? I tried both a Belkin USB 2.0 pc card (before realizing it had a cpu requirement of 266 Mhz) and an older Belkin Busport Mobile (the type with the USB ports on a dongle, which needs a 32 bit slot). Since the 365X has 16 bit pcmcia slots, I wasn't able to get either of these to work. Is there any other usb adapter that will work with the 365X, or is there a way to enable the 365X to support 32 bit cardbus cards? I'd sure like to get this done since I'm trying to re-purpouse four of these laptops.
thanks
