ibm1s506.add is ibm's ide/atapi device driver, though it does the basic
jobs that are needed it does have some problems and its missing a few
features.

I'd suggest you download Dani's driver (danis506.add) which can
be downloaded from hobbes, latest version is 1.6.7 which includes
superb support for ibm thinkpad's hot plugging capability and
docking stations.

you may also check the ATAPI driver which adds new features and support
for new devices over the older atapi driver in os/2.

Dani, she is a great programmer and has added support for the latest
chipsets in her driver, latest driver includes support for all the
latest SerialATA chipsets as well!

Oh, and the driver supports plugging in the external floppy on thinkpads.
