[Thinkpad] Re: Thinkpad T40/T41 HDD heat dissipation problems

Can anyone with a t40/t41 tell me about their
experience with the heat coming from the hdd to the
right palm rest area? I returned a Dell D600 because
the palm rest was too hot. I even measured the temp
of the palm rest surface. On idle HDD it was about
+41C (106F) and when there was a lot of HDD activity
it went up to +43C(109F) which is very uncomfortable
on the hands. That was with a Hitachi 5400rpm 40G.

I was wondering if a 5400 rpm drive on a t40/t41
transfers that much heat to the palm rest area. Also,
if anyone knows about 7200rpm drive in a t40/t41,
please let me know.
