The E7K60 is targeted for installation into server blade systems where they
run 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Hitachi is saying that this drive is
suitable for this sort of continuous operation and the one 7K60 is not. The
two drives have the same specs., but one is expected to operate in a more
controlled environment with less change in temperature. In this environment
Hitachi is willing to warranty the drive with the E, not the one without it.
For installation in a Thinkpad I don't think it matters which you use, but
the one without the E is usually a few dollars cheaper. In my Thinkpad I
have two 7K60 drives installed and they are working great. I would
definitely recommend this drive, but see no reason to buy the E model.
