[Thinkpad] RAM and Video RAM on TP 600E

A pair of simple questions to which I can't find any answers, both of
them related to IBM Thinkpad 600E and its RAM:

1) My documentation for 600E says the amount of RAM for that model is
capped at 288 MB (32MB of base built-in memory + 2x128 MB of of user-
istallable SDRAM). That is the amount I currently have in there.
However, I am curious about the 128 MB per RAM slot limit: Is it a
hardware/BIOS issue (which would mean I can't upgrade it further) or
the matter of larger RAM chips not exsisting at the time of the (now
outdated) 600E's production (which would mean it might accept larger
RAM chips)?

2) As I understand it, 600E shares RAM between system and video card;
according to DirectX diagnostics, roughly 2.5 MB of RAM have been
assigned to video needs. However, I had no luck finding a way of
assigning more RAM for the video use. Is it a 'no go' or is there a way?

Details: it's a PII 400 / 288MB RAM / 10 GB HDD ThinkPad 600E, running
Windows XP Professional, all relevant and available updates from the
IBM's tech support site installed.

Help, anybody?

Grateful in advance, Andro.

problems with registering and getting posts rejected due to non-
