I have a similar one on my A31p (GCC-4240N model). I haven't had any problems,
but i did notice poor Write performance.
CD write speed is never constant and it never goes at max speed
through out the whole write process, but if the average speed is less
than 50% of the max speed (24x in this case) then that means the device
is at fault and it performs very poorly.
I used Alcohol 120% (its an advanced cd util) and i noticed that speed was
below average, ranging from 8x to 16x for most of recording and only at the
very end reaching 24x (for just a few seconds).
I've done a lot of tests over the years with cd-rw's and this cd-rw was
a very very poor performer :(
PS:
the drive had no other problems, it reads any type of cd/dvd as Aryeh mentioned.
