Well, how about a v.92 modem? Those things can support better compression
algoritms and hold-on-ring, and can do fastre dialup handshakes. Sounds
good to me.

You SURE about this? The 240s uses a 2MB Neomagic, while the 240x uses a
2MB SMI LynxEM. Chances are that the 2 LCDs should not play happy
together.

Well, I have a "semi-stricken" 240 here with bootup problems, Let me see
if replacing the CMOS battery would help at all. If not, well, I'll need
very good tools to unbind the 64MB of memory solder into the machine.
