Reboots don't generally fix it for me, and power cycles only occasionally.

Well, mine is an A31p, Radeon Mobility 7800.
Once I'm finished getting my machine re-tweaked (I've been reinstalling
bits and pieces for maybe 3-4 days), I might give it a try.
I'm also having a very consistent problem where Partition Commander works
only booted from CD, not run from the hard drive. No idea why; "it used to
work". A lot of stuff started going wrong recently.
Has your machine taken any static shocks? Mine may have gotten zapped once.
