RE: [Thinkpad] Smart Card Security (vaguely TPad related)

Following your message, I checked and discovered that my X24 has the
security chip. I downloaded and installed the latest Client Security
Software and have been playing with it a bit. It seems neat,
particularly the feature that allows encrypting files and folders.
However, I stumbled upon this line in the manual:

"Drive-letter protection
The IBM FFE utility can be used to encrypt files and folders on the C
drive only. This utility does not support encryption on any other
hard-disk partition or physical drive."

What the hell is that all about? Why would they keep people from
encrypting data on other drives? I have all my data on a separate
partition which is mounted as drive letter D: in order to make backups
and system restores easier. I guess this software is not for me.
