Thanks to all thinkpad users who emailed me.
I got my laptop back from IBM yesterday, they fixed the LCD, however,
they say that they could not replicate the problem I was experiencing
regarding the video memory (despite detailed instructions and a CD rom
with screenshots and a direct X burnin program able to replicate it) and
so it must be a driver issue not a hardware issue.
I guess there are just some things you have to live with. I still like
my thinkpad, and i still think IBM are pretty good, etc....
