[Thinkpad] re: KVM with thinkpad docking station

My 560 with the extended dock (FRU 11J9000) works well with the generic
KVM switch I got from SF cable (888-275-8755).
The switch itself is seriously generic, just says "KVM 2 port switch" on
the front. The case is blue and silver and the number "0246M2-011CS"
appears on the bottom of the case.
Unfortunately my desktop (Tyan Trinity 400 homebuilt) doesn't like the
switch, if I switch to the thinkpad then back to the desktop the
Kensington trackball doesn't respond....
