I'm trying to get my 560Z (P 233, 96mo ram) to interface [program] with
a voice-control system.
I used to interface with my old 386 laptop, but it died, hence purchase
of Thinkpad.
Now I am using same settings as I did with 386, COM 1 and 19200bps
speed. But, I have no communication. I borrowed my partenaire's laptop
he did the same thing with, also a 386, also on COM 1 and 19200bps (also
had the prog set to monochrome, but my 386 was monochrome anyway)
Now why won't the Thinkpad interface? I have tried using "PS2 SE ON" to
no avail. Is COM 1 the USB or something? What is the 9-pin male RS-232
connector then called?
Easy Setup Diagnostics says the serial port is in good health.
Only difference between the 386 laptops and the Thinkpad is operating
systeme. I used English MS-DOS 6.20 on my 386, my partner uses French
MS-DOS 6.22 on his 386 and my Thinkpad is running Englush IBM PC-DOS
2000, which I prefer immensely.
It's driving me up a tree! All my clients are demanding I reinitialize
their systems but my fancy new 233mhz laptop cannot do what an old
15mhz'er could a month ago.
Help?
