As I said I can record CDR's at max speed, but I just moved the speed down to 1X and still got the "Write Protected Media" message on trying to format a CDRW.
I'll see if I can get someone else to try these Memorex on their machines to see if they will work on another PC.

Could it be that your media speed is too low? I am not sure what the speed of the burner is. I think it is faster than 4x. I think what you need is to use a CDRW that is rated for a faster speed - or perhaps try burning at a
slower rate. Do you have a buddy with some faster rated CDRW that you could test? I use 40x or better rated CDR in my TP CDRW/DVD player and they work well!

I've had my T40 for three months or so now. It has the Matshita UJDA745 DVD/CDRW installed. This weekend I decided to try to CDRW to make some quick "in between" backups. I purchased Memorex 700 MB 4X CDRW's and clicked away to format using IBM DLA, which failed with a "Format failed due to media write protect". I also tried CDBurner XP Pro and got the same error message.
I am able to read and write CD-R's easily. Before I go out to get another brand of CDRW disks, does anyone have a recommendation?
