Does the 385XD have a similar mechanism to the 760 series where the
keyboard lifts up to access devices? (CD/Floppy/Hard disk and battery)

If so, the switch may be damaged where it clicks down at the front of
the keyboard, look towards the middle at the front of the underside of
the keyboard and see if you can find a hole with a switch you can push
in, and that may bring it out of hibernation or as is more likely, standby.

It was the problem on a 765L I had.
