[Thinkpad] Display shows vertical red lines

Hi

I have a thinkpad X30. While I was working today, the left half of
the display all of a sudden started showing some vertical red
lines.
I have tried to restart the computer, etc. but the lines doesn't
go away.
The color of the lines change depending on what should have been
shown below them:
- The lines are blue if the color below should have been white
- The lines are red if the color below should have been blue or
black.

Any idea what could be wrong?
