[Thinkpad] warranty questions

 Hi

i bought my 570e in late march 2001. i sent it to easy serv last
spring because the display was flickering wildly -- it looked like it
had lost all horizontal or vertical control. i think they replace the
lcd.

the problem has recurred. but when i call easy serv, they say my
machine is out of warranty, and that the warranty starts at
manufacture date which was 10/11/2000. is this right?

they also have no record of last year's repair. what to do?

if i try to repair this myself, what should i try first?
