I misread. If yu bought NEW in March 2001, you may have a few days left, but you do need to show proof. Last years repair is not relevent.

    Yes, that is right. Try replacing the LCD cable, it is the ususal culprit,
    many are available on Ebay, try Hammerhead Tech
