    Subject: [Thinkpad] Shelved Batteries

I forgot to ask while looking for battery vendors...

IBM discontinued batteries for my 600X about two years ago. Knowing just a
little about battery chemistry, my opinion is that unused (rechargeable)
batteries that have been shelved for a small number of years should be
just as usable as "factory fresh" batteries.

That is, I don't think the chemistry changes much with age when not being
used... at least for some long time frame. Are there any 10-year-old
Li-Ion batteries anywhere? I'd be interested to see how they perform.

What's the knowledge of the group (meaning YOU) on this?

    Chris
