My Ritek DVD-R disks came today. I archived my first disk of photo's and put the disk into my T23 and it reads it just fine. So I guess my T23 DVD readers are - compatible or at least DVD-R compatible. Once I had my new desktop CPU all set up and updated I used Acronis true image to back it up on the DVD+RW disks so they didn't go to waste. Updating XP and Office 2000 on a dial up takes forever... It's good to know I can access my archive disks on both computers.

Hi Jeddy Lin,
I have the (Hitachi DVD-ROM GD-S200) which came with the T23 and a
(HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-424ON) that I bought on ebay. Both are ultrabay
2000 drives.
Could the problem be that I have the Roxio6 oem software on the XP
desktop and InCd packet writing software version 4 on the win 2000 T23?
As far as I know the only DVD software on the thinkpad is the
Mediamatics DVD player. I just assumed that since InCd could read the
files I transferred to CDRW using Roxio that it would read the DVD-RW as
well. What is it they say about assuming things. I wonder if I buy a
full and current version of the Roxio software, or the Nero software and
install it on both machines if that would solve my dilemma? I would love
to hear your thoughts on this.

Which DVD drive came with your T23?
My T23 has a Toshiba SD-C2512 and it reads DVD+RW and DVD-R with no
problems when burned in Nero 6. (DVD+RW is identified as Philips 041 and
DVD-R is RITEK G04) The Ritek's are generally recognized as "pretty good
media". Check out the media forum at http://club.cdfreaks.com.
I also have a Sony (CRX-810E?) CDRW/DVD combo drive in my T23 that will
read the -R's about 50% of the time but never the +RW's.

I recently acquired a desktop CPU with a DVD multi burner. My first
foray was with DVD+RW and I find that my T23 cannot read them using the
Ultra bay 2000 DVD drive or the DVD/CDRW combo drive. Before buying any
more media I thought I would check with the list to see if anyone knows
which DVD medias would be readable by these drives. I am thinking that
DVD-R would be most likely but I would prefer to learn from someone who
has already tried the various media in these drives. I want to be able
to back up files on the desktop DVD burner but be able to access them on
the T23. I used Roxio drag-to-disc (version 6), which came with the
burner, to format the media.
