Three suggestions:
- Asking a question about T series computers by replying to a 600e post is not the most efficient way to get useful responses. We
all go off on tangents without typing in new subject lines, but when you *need* information it's worth doing. Many people do not
have the time or interest to read all the posts and will skip your post unless they are knowledgeable about and/or own a 600e.
- Don't assume that an answer would be the same for an entire series; sometimes there are major differences among the models. Best
is to use the seven-digit machine+model #. It's probably unnecessary for a general question about the case, but you should still
tell us which Txx you're asking about.
- Download or bookmark the online Hardware Maintenance Manual for your computer. The easiest way is to use your TP to visit the IBM
support site and allow it to auto-detect the machine and model #s. You will get an extensive list of information applicable to your
computer. (Bookmark that page and use it whenever you need support in the future.) One of the documents available online will be the
HMM, which contains detailed, illustrated information for working on your computer.
I know you just wanted a quickie answer to a simple question, but when you have the HMM, you won't have to depend on other people
for answers to such questions. And hopefully, once you open it and replace a battery, you'll also see why it is neither necessary
nor desirable to go at a Thinkpad battery cover with tools like Dremels or screwdrivers.
