[Thinkpad] T41: CD-R too thick?

I have a CD-R with a full-face paper label (a label designed for
CDs, from Avery or from CD-Stomper or someone).

When I put it in my T41's really slim drive and it spins up, it
sounds awful. Almost (but not quite!) like the paper label is
rubbing on the roof of the drive. I immediately pop it out because
I'm afraid of it causing damage.

Is this a known problem? I'll happily re-copy the CD-R onto a new
one without a label if that will make a difference.

It's also the first CD-R I've put in the drive, BTW. And I'm
attempting to read from it, not write to it.

Thanks!
